Philosophy

Gan Yeladim is an inclusive early childhood program, grounded in Jewish values and embracing a Reggio Emilia philosophy. We respect and encourage the individuality of each child and seek to instill a love and pride of being Jewish by providing meaningful experiences for children and their families in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment.

The Reggio Emilia approach originated in the town of Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy in the mid 20th century.

Fundamental to the Reggio approach is the belief that children are curious, and capable creators of meaning.  Through play, observation, and interaction children drive their own learning.  Teachers work together with the children as co-explorers, and learners.  They provide further opportunities for children to explore.

Health & Safety

GAN YELADIM ILLNESS POLICY

ADDENDUM- COVID 19 2020

Children may not attend Gan Yeladim with any of the following health issues:

- Cough

- Fever over 100.4

- Body rash (not in diaper area)

- Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing

- Chills

- Muscle pain

- Loss of sense of taste or smell

- Diarrhea or vomiting

- Sore throat

Consult your pediatrician if your child experiences any of the above symptoms. (Symptoms may indicate that your child be tested for COVID 19.) If your child is diagnosed with COVID 19, they must remain at home until: symptoms have completely abated, at least 10 days have passed since symptoms presented and you have obtained written permission from your child’s doctor.

During the COVID 19 pandemic, the State of Vermont requires that children be fever free for 24 hours, with no fever reducing medicine, before returning to their early childhood center. (Masking fever with medication like ibuprofen or acetaminophen will result in expulsion from Gan Yeladim.)

If a child or parent has had close contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID 19, they must self-quarantine and contact the Vermont Health Department for further guidance.

These policies are designed to keep all of the children, parents and teachers at Gan Yeladim safe and healthy.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation
